People living in and around Crowle could be treated to a weekend of community events next summer.
Town councillors have seen what’s been done in the village of Scawby near Brigg, which linked a series of ‘happenings’ over three days, and thought they could do the same in Crowle.
The idea was suggested by Coun Ron Stewart, who said it would be a perfect community activity in the town, asserting that is was something on which the Town Council could take a positive lead.
He said there were a number of ideas, and that he’d already spoken to the Playing Field Association about them being involved.
His idea was enthusiastically taken up by his fellow councillors, with Coun Julie Reed volunteering to join him on the Community and Communications Committee to set it up. Members agreed that the committee, with the help of Couns Stewart and Reed, could start planning at once. Already ideas on the table are the scarecrow competition, asking the WI to organise a ‘Great Crowle Bake-off’, and other groups being asked for a contribution.
Coun Harold Osborne said: “The sky’s the limit.”
