A WREATH will be taken from Thorne next month to the site of a famous World War Two battle.

Jacqui Whitehead from The Flightpath of Friendship Reconciliation group is joining Gordon Rutherford from East Riding to take the wreath over to the Dutch Frisian island to drop at the site where his brother Flight Sergeant Kenneth Rutherford was shot down by a German fighter on September 23, 1942.

Mrs Whitehead helps people trace family stories from the war, and will now travel to the site of the crash to lay a wreath on the Dutch Remembrance Day with Mr Rutherford and Joke Folmer, a decorated Dutch resistance war hero.
