Police are urging motorists to be vigilant after a spate of spare wheel thefts.

Thieves broke into three vehicles in one night between 8pm on Tuesday and 8am on Wednesday.

The first car was a Mercedes Sprinter in Thorntondale Road in Scawsby, the next was a Volkswagen in Westminister Way, Intake, and the third vehicle targeted was a Volkswagen Caddy van in Hesley Road, Rossington.

Superintendent Eddie Murphy said: “I would urge motorists who are offered unusually cheap wheels for these tyres of vehicles to contact police.

“It is possible it may be stolen goods.”

Call police on 101 with information.
