Residents are being reminded to check locks on their homes after a spate of break-ins by burglars searching for car keys.
A black Audi A3 was stolen from a home in St Mary’s Road, Dunsville at around 4am on Monday.
Thieves tampered with the lock to break into the home and take the car keys. The vehicle was recovered on Broadway, Dunscroft, and two people were seen running from the vehicle.
Thieves also stole a set of car keys but were disturbed before making off with the vehicle at a house on Hawthorne Avenue, Dunsville, at 3.30am on Monday.
The thieves broke in by tampering with a lock at the property.
The two incidents are thought to be connected and residents are being urged to check patio door locks are secure.
Superintendent Eddie Murphy said: “We would urge all residents to check their locks are tamper proof to try to clampdown on this sort of crime.
