VANDALS have caused thousands of pounds of damage by slashing up polythene tunnels at a fishing lake.

The vandals got into the Alderwood Fishery in Hayworth Lane, Moss, in the early hours of Friday morning and slashed open every panel of a polythene tube used to store equipment and grow fruit and vegetables.

Owner Simon Young said the lake has been blighted by vandalism over the last three years - including catching yobs kicking over trees - but the latest attack has been the most vicious.

He said: “I know people have come here at night and taken the boat out into the islands in the lake.

“They have been messing about swimming when it has been dark and I don’t want anyone to get injured.”
