Police are studying CCTV footage after a thief stole a charity collection tin from a community centre.

The honesty box went missing from the Ivanhoe Centre in Conisbrough during a packed performance by Elvis tribute Joseph Littlemore.

Ivanhoe Centre supervisor Lyndsay Young, said: “We were really angry and disappointed to find the donation tin missing after the concert, which was a great success.

“The tin is left next to books donated to the centre. People pay 50p per book. Some put a couple of pounds in so there could have been quite a bit of cash in there. It is a charity collection for the centre funds. We think the thief may have been caught on CCTV which we have handed over to the police.

“It would only have taken a few seconds for someone to sneak in and take the tin. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.”

Call police on 101 with information about the theft on July 13.
