A pizza delivery driver got his own taste of a take-away when thieves stole his unlocked car in Doncaster.

The driver was making a delivery at Don Street, Wheatley, at 7.30pm yesterday, 15 December, and left his car running while he went to the property.

Two men, who were walking past, then jumped into the £1,500 blue Vauxhall Astra and drove off towards Wheatley Hall Road.

Superintendent Eddie Murphy, of South Yorkshire Police said: “We want people to ensure their vehicles are secure at all times whether they’re dropping something or someone off or even defrosting their car.

“It only takes seconds for thieves to strike, as last night’s incident illustrates. The safest course of action is to make sure doors are locked, windows shut and not to leave anything on view.”

The two men are described as white, aged 40 and 21 years and wearing dark clothing.

Any witnesses to the theft or anyone with information about the stolen car, which has the registration plate DV02 EZN, should call South Yorkshire Police on: 101.
