A suspected knifeman wanted in connection with an alleged stabbing has finally been caught after evading police arrest for two months.
Steven Watkins, 29, was arrested in Thurnscoe just after 11pm on Wednesday night.
He is wanted by police after a 33-year-old man suffered stab wounds in an attack in Houghton Road, Thurnscoe, on Sunday, September 28.
He had been spotted at around 1.10pm in Station Road and then a further sighting was reported at 2.25pm in Tudor Street earlier on the same day he was arrested.
Officers had also circulated posters of Watkins across the area in their bid to land him.
Specialist teams had raided a number of homes, believing he may have been living there.
The victim’s injuries were so serious he was taken to Barnsley District General Hospital for treatment and kept in overnight for observation. He has since been discharged home.
