South Yorkshire detectives have been alerted to the theft of another cash machine.

The latest stolen ATM was dragged out of a service station in Filey, North Yorkshire, by a gang using a stolen 4x4.

Detectives investigating the theft have spoken to detectives from South Yorkshire and Humberside, where there have been a number of cash machine thefts over recent months.

Police were alerted to the raid at Primrose Valley Garage, Primrose Valley Road, Primrose Valley, at 2.49am last Thursday after the burglar alarm went off.

Two men had pulled up outside the garage in a red Nissan X-Trail vehicle.

One of the men smashed the glass door of the garage with a large stone to gain entry into the building.

He tied a rope to the cash machine inside which was then pulled out through the glass door onto the forecourt by the man driving the Nissan.

The cash machine was lifted into the boot of the vehicle, which drove off towards Hunmanby village.

The Nissan was later found abandoned.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “Extensive enquiries are ongoing to locate the men involved in this incident with support from police in Humberside and South Yorkshire.

“Even the smallest level of detail could prove vital to the investigating officers, so please do not hesitate to get in touch.”

Witnesses or anyone with information should call North Yorkshire Police on 101 and ask for the Scarborough Serious Crime Team.
