Seven people were arrested yesterday after search warrants were executed at two travellers’ sites in Doncaster.
Properties on Hall Villa Lane, Toll Bar, and Stockbridge Lane, Bentley, were searched just after 6am following a lengthy police investigation.
Officers seized approximately £20,000 of cannabis plants and hydroponics equipment, as well as a substantial amount of cash and a high-value vehicle.
An amount of heroin and crack cocaine was also seized together with a firearm and ammunition.
Chief Inspector Gwyn Thomas, of Doncaster police, said: “This operation came about due to information provided by the public of Doncaster to both police and partners outlining alleged criminal activity taking place within their communities.
“The public of Doncaster rightfully expect both police and partners to take this type of positive action and I hope they can see from today that if information continues to be provided, either to us directly, to partners or via Crimestoppers, then we will continue to take decisive intervention.”
The warrants come on the same day that national crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers launched its campaign to tackle cannabis cultivation in the UK.
