A MAN has been arrested by detectives hunting a rapist who attacked a woman on footpath near a primary school.

Police confirmed that the man was questioned and released without charge following the sex assault near Rosedale Primary School in Scawsby.

The 25-year-old victim was walking alone when she was approached from behind and pushed to the floor and sexually assaulting her.

Following the incident police warned women not walk alone at night and not to take short cuts and keep to well lit paths.

The attacker was described as white, around 35-years-old, slim to medium build and approximately 5ft 8in to 5ft 9ins tall. He had blond shaved hair, a round face, was clean shaven and, at the time of the attack, had distinctive lines shaved into one of his eyebrows. He was wearing black suit-like trousers and a long-sleeved black sweat shirt with a leaf logo on the front. He spoke with a local accent.

The attack happened at about 6.30pm on Tuesday, March 22. Contact police on 0114 220 2020 quoting incident number 836 of March 22.
