Detectives investigating a stabbing in Barnsley have taken the unusual step of releasing the name of the man they believe was responsible.
Police have revealed they believe a 29-year-old man named Steven Watkins is to blame for the attack on a 33-year-old man on Houghton Road, Thurnscoe, on Sunday, September 28.
South Yorkshire Police would not disclose any further details about Watkins.
A force spokeswoman said: “Police investigating an assault in which a 33-year-old man was seriously injured in the Thurnscoe area are trying to trace a man suspected of being responsible.
“Officers are looking for Steven Watkins, 29, who is suspected of being responsible.
“Members of the public should not approach Watkins.”
