Passer-by injured trying to stop stolen van

A HAVE-a-go-hero has been injured after he was thrown from a stolen van which he was trying to stop.

The victim was among a group who helped the owner chase after a Mercedes Sprinter after it had been stolen in Bentley, Doncaster.

When the thief had to slow down in traffic a 29-year-old man managed to catch up to the van and opened the passenger door. However, he was thrown from the vehicle and sustained minor wrists injuries, police said.

A 36-year-old man was arrested at the scene and charged with theft of a motor vehicle and dangerous driving.

The incident happened at the junction of Jossey Lane and Cooke Street at around 12.45pm on Wednesday.
