A total of 19 people have been handed fines after the latest Doncaster Council clampdown on littering in the borough.
The council described the latest wave of cases heard by Doncaster magistrates as part of a zero tolerance approach to the issue of litter.
Some of those who appeared before the court were ordered to pay as much as £345 in costs and fines plus a further £20 in victim surcharges. Most of those convicted were from Doncaster.
Coun Joe Blackham, cabinet member for neighbourhoods, enforcement and trading services, said: “Littering is an on going problem in Doncaster which we are determined to tackle.
“We will continue to clamp down on anyone caught littering as this unacceptable behaviour is a blight on our neighbourhoods.
“The message is clear, use the litter bins or take your rubbish home with you or be faced with a heavy fine. ”
