A MAN suffered a broken jaw in an apparently unprovoked attack in Doncaster town centre.

Police are appealing for information after the 34-year-old was assaulted in the early hours of the morning on Hallgate, leaving him needing surgery

The man was walking home from the town centre between 3.15am and 3.20am on March 13, say police.

A police spokesman said: “When he was near to the junction with Princess Street, a silver Astra or Vectra pulled up alongside him and a male got out. He punched the man once on the chin and the man fell to the ground unconscious.”

The attacker then drove off along Bennethorpe, heading out of the town centre.

The man who carried out the attack is described as white, clean shaven, with close cropped fair hair. He was wearing a green golf jumper with a diamond pattern and brown trousers.

Witnesses call police quoting incident 80 of March 13 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
