A man who absconded from a Doncaster mental hospital while on escorted leave yesterday is still at large.

Police are appealing for information on the whereabouts of Gary Clark (pictured) who escaped while visiting away from Cheswold Park Hospital in Cheswold Lane on Tuesday June 24.

The 48-year-old was on an accompanied visit into Doncaster town centre when he escaped from staff. He was last seen heading towards North Bridge, in the town centre, on foot.

Detectives believe that Mr Clark, who is originally from the Leeds area, may be making his way out of the immediate area in an effort to contact friends or family in West Yorkshire.

He is described as around 5ft 9ins tall and of a medium build. He has a shaved head and, when he was last seen, he was wearing a grey tracksuit.

Members of the public are advised not to approach Mr Clark if they see him, but to call police on 999.
