Doncaster police are urging locals to keep details of their valuables, particularly bicycles, after a surge in the number of them being stolen.
Most bikes are being stolen from sheds and garages.
Police are recovering a large number of bikes but are struggling to locate the owners due to not having enough details on the system to identify them.
Supt Eddie Murphy said: “The main issue we have is people not being able to provide us with enough detail regarding their bike.
“It would help if the public know the make, model and frame number of their bike and if they can take a picture of the bike, so we can use this information to trace the owner. The public can also register their bikes and other valuables on www.immobilise.com.”
