A MAN has been set upon by a gang of thugs on a Doncaster housing estate.

Police have now launched a hunt to apprehend those responsible for the incident which police described as an “unprovoked attack.”

The 25-year-old victim was approached by a large group as he waited outside Sutherland House at the junction of Parkway North and Durham Road on the Wheatley Park estate,

He was then set upon for “no apparent reason,” a police spokesman said.

The victim was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary and required treatment for a fractured jaw.

Officers would like to hear from anybody who may have seen the incident.

They are also urging people to come forward if they remember seeing a group of young people hanging around the same area prior to the attack.

The assault happened at around 8.45pm on May 4, but police only just released details this week.

Witnesses should call Denise Dalrymple on 0114 220 2020 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
