Cyclists in the Isle can record ownership of their bike for free on a security website.

Humberside Police have developed an e-form that allows members of the public to register their bike for free on to www.immobilise.com and are encouraging people to download the form and do this as soon as they can.

Immobilise is a Police endorsed national property recording, web based, data storage system, which is cost free.

There are three steps to register your bicycle:

Write down the details from your bike including make, model and frame number

Fill in the attached PDF (Portable Document Format),

Click on the “Register it today” box.

In 10 to 14 days you will receive an e mail, direct from immobilise.com, confirming you have opened a free property registering account. At the same time they will encourage you to add all other identifiable property.

If you mark any item of property on your account as stolen, that information is available to all UK police forces and registered secondhand dealers so greatly increases your chance of getting it back.

It also reduces the chance of anyone unlawfully benefitting from or using your lost or stolen property
