THIS drunken thug has been locked up as police promises to get tough with louts blighting Doncaster town centre appear to be kicking in.
Michelle Oseman will also be banned from boozing in town for five years upon her release after she was hit with an anti-social behaviour order (ASBO) as part of her sentence.
The 44-year-old of was jailed for 15 months at Doncaster Crown Court for assault and theft.
The assault happened on October 5 last year when a passer-by discovered a 61-year-old man from Hexthorpe with head injuries in a subway in Cleveland Street.
Upon her release Oseman, of The Crescent, Woodlands, will also be subject to an ASBO which has a number of conditions. These include not being able to drink alcohol in the town centre or use threatening or abusive behaviour.
Speaking after the hearing Pc Jules Moss from the Doncaster anti-social behaviour team said: “This was a nasty attack which left the victim with serious injuries.
“We are pleased the ASBO has been granted and will begin on her release from prison.
“We hope it will deter her from this kind of behaviour in the future.”
Oseman’s conviction comes the Free Press last month reported how police had vowed to crackdown on drunken louts in the town centre particularly around the market area which was recently voted Britain’s best.
Officers held a street corner meeting with fed up market traders who said the issue was hitting trade.
Empty market stalls have become the meeting place for large gangs who often become leery after drinking sessions and leave behind litter, including drug paraphernalia and empty cans and use the area as a toilet, traders said.
Elected mayor Peter Davies also promised to get tough on anti-social behaviour following his election in 2009
