A man has been arrested for headbutting a dad following a shopping trip.

A 41-year-old man, from Doncaster, has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and bailed following the assault on Thursday, August 6 in Bakewell.

A man, aged 51, was walking on North Church Street with his 10-year-old son at around 12.50pm, following a shopping trip.

Derbyshire Police said a man and woman walked towards them with two dogs, one of which was not on a lead. The dog ran towards the victim, who accidently trod on its paw.

He apologised, but the man headbutted him hard in the face, causing a cut to his upper lip which needed stitches.
