A man has appeared at Doncaster Magistrates’ Court this morning, charged with making a bomb hoax that is alleged to have been made with a hand-written note.

Michael Wallen, 51, Milton Walk, Hyde Park, appeared at court just a few moments ago charged with the offence that took place at Doncaster Interchange last December.

The court heard how on December 18, Wallen handed a note on a folded piece of A4 paper to a security guard at the Intercharge.

It read: “There is a bomb on the High Street. Death to all.”

Wallen told police he found the note in the public toilets at the Interchange.

Dressed in a blue shirt, dark trousers and a denim jacket, Wallen did not enter a plea and spoke only to confirm his name and address.

The case has been adjourned until a hearing at Sheffield Crown court later this month.

He was released on bail.
