shoppers are being warned to avoid purchasing counterfeit goods this Christmas.
Unofficial Uggs, knock off Nikes and plastic Pandora bracelets are just some of the hundreds of fake items seized by Doncaster Council over the last year.
There is also a problem with a large amount of fake sports products which are being purchased as more people take up sport in anticipation of the 2012 Olympics.
Profits from the sale of counterfeit products help to fund organised crime.
Trading Standards will be carrying out checks throughout Doncaster and on websites.
Markets and car boot fairs are encouraged to work with their local trading standards team and highlight their commitment to keeping their venue fake-free. To find out how to protect yourself from fakes or report someone selling counterfeit items visit www.fakesfundcrime.org.uk.
