A man has appeared in court charged with murdering his wife and daughter at their South Yorkshire home.
Peter Redfern, aged 70, pleaded not guilty to the murders of his wife Jean, aged 67, and daughter Sarah, 33, of Sandygate, Wath.
Standing in the dock at Sheffield Crown Court yesterday with his head bowed, the pensioner, dressed in a blue sweatshirt, denied the charges against him.
The women’s bodies were discovered at the family home on July 22.
Judge Julian Goose QC adjourned the hearing and remanded Redfern in custody.
Friends and relatives sat in the public gallery along with South Yorkshire Police officers for the five- minute hearing.
Redfern’s trial will take place in January.
