CCTV cameras are set to be installed at a Dearne park following a spate of vandalism attacks.
Yobs have ripped up flooring at a children’s play area and set fire to play equipment on several occasions in recent weeks at Victoria Park in Mexborough.
There has also been claims that gangs were seen taking drugs in the park and riding around on off-road motorbikes.
But Doncaster-based company CCTV Revolution has answered residents’ calls for action and has agreed to install cameras free of charge.
Owner Jason Morris, 42, a father-of-four who lives in Denaby, said: “It cannot be nice for these residents to be faced with constant vandalism attack so I wanted to help them out.
“We will install four cameras on a lampost, which should provide a suitable deterrent and will hopefully alleviate the problems there.
“The cameras will also provide night vision.
“We have spoken to Doncaster Council and are just waiting for them to give the go ahead.”
Resident Sean Gibbons, 40, who lives across from the park on Park Road, said: “It is great news.
“We are so grateful to Jason.”
Police and council officers have recently increased patrols in the area in a bid to clamp down on the problems.
