The man in this CCTV image is being hunted by police in relation to an attempted armed robbery at a shop in Swinton.

Police have released the picture after a man entered the Londis store in Church Street, Swinton, with his face covered and threatened staff with a handgun before demanding cash from the till.

The suspect fled empty handed after he was challenged by a member of staff and headed towards the direction of Highfield Road.

The incident happened on Saturday, January 10, at 8.45pm.

Just days before masked raiders robbed a shop in Claypit Lane, Rawmarsh, and another store in Highthorn Road, Kilnhurst.

A 30-year-old Swinton man and two boys, aged 16 and 17, have been charged in relation to these two offences and are due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court in April.

Nobody has been arrested in connection with the Swinton incident.
