A WOMAN was car jacked by a robber as she stopped at a petrol station.

The 56-year-old was at the filling station in Wath Road, Mexborough, when she was approached by the robber.

He made an attempt to grab her car keys and during the struggle she was pushed to the ground.

The man took the keys and drove away in the woman’s car. She sustained minor injuries and was extremely shaken following the incident.

Following the robbery on May 4 the car was seen the following morning on CCTV. A man was arrested shortly afterwards in King Street and the car recovered.

Det Cons Craig Nicol said: “We have been able to arrest and charge the individual believed to have been involved and return the car to its rightful owner.”

A 25-year-old from High Melton has been charged with robbery and is due to appear in court.
