METAL thieves have pinched copper cables from a business park for the second time in weeks.

Copper cabling used for phone and internet lines was first stolen from the Hayfield Business Park last month, but just eight days after it was replaced thieves struck again.

Business owners in the area have now been forced to send their staff home for a second time as they have been unable to use phones or the internet.

Simon Horseman from recruitment firm Straco International, said: “We have been told it will be December 5 before it will be repaired again.

“There are over 50 businesses in Delta House so they will all be without their internet.”

South Yorkshire Police confirmed 280 metres of cabling had been stolen on Monday night and that BT had been informed to carry out repairs.

The latest thefts took cabling connections for Auckley and Blaxton as well as the business park.

When 400 cable connectors were stolen from Mosham Farm Road in the early hours of November 12 they were later found torched in nearby farmland.

Metal thefts in Doncaster is becoming such a regular crime BT has named the area as a national hotspot.
