POLICE chiefs have promised to continue their fight against criminals as latest figures reveal crime in the area continues to fall.
The Office of National Statistics has released the latest crime figures for Humberside Police which show a 14 per cent reduction in the number of offences in North Lincolnshire, including the Isle,
Between September 2-011 and September 2012 there was 11,600 crimes in North Lincolnshire, down by 1,926.
Burglaries were down 22 per cent, to 1,892, criminal damage was down 18 per cent to 2,063.
However, there was a 15 per cent increase in robberies and a ten per cent rise in drugs offences with 120 and 366 offences recorded respectively.
Assistant Chief Constable for Humberside Police, Stuart Donald said: “Crime continues to fall across the Humberside Police area which is really good news.
“Much is down to the good work of our criminal justice partners and councils, as well as the public providing information and taking simple crime prevention measures.
“This approach is the way we can reduce crime even further. I want people to be safe and secure so having fewer victims of crime is very welcome news. I’m delighted local officers and staff continue to rise to the challenge of making savings and providing greater value for money whilst tackling criminals.”
Police and Crime Commissioner, Matthew Grove added: “This is welcome news, the continued fall in crime means we have had over 11,000 fewer victims in the last 12 months.
“In the last ten years crime in the Humber region has fallen by over 50 per cent, so officers can spend more time preventing crime rather than just responding to it.”
Across the force figures revealed that 64,946 crimes were recorded in the period compared to the previous 12 months when 76,227 offences were committed - down 15 per cent. The decrease was twice the national average.
And a higher percentage of people now consider that the police and council bosses are dealing with issues that matter to them.
The Humberside force area achieved a three per cent increase to be ranked seven places higher in the national league table.
