YOUNG pupils had a close encounter of the creepy kind when they had a visit from an array of animals.

Creepy cockroaches, giant snails and slithering snakes, bearded dragons and terrifying tarantulas were just some of the new arrivals to visit Balby Carr Community Sports and Science College as its year seven pupils took part in hands-on activities to learn more about wildlife from animal group Zoolab.

Pupils at the Weston Road school were also taught how to survive if they were ever stranded in a rainforest by the expert rangers.
