INJURED soldier Craig Wood has been given a huge boost after being presented with a specially designed wheelchair by a charitable Doncaster group.

Craig, 19, received the wheelchair, which has been modified to be controlled with one hand, from the Rotary Club of Doncaster.

Craig, of Windmill Balk Lane, Woodlands, became one of the youngest servicemen to be injured in Afghanistan when he lost both legs and part of his lower left arm in an explosion.

The Rotary Club organised various events to raise around £3,000 for the equipment.

Craig’s mum Lesley said: “The wheelchair has been a big help.

“It’s easier to control than the one he had and it’s lighter.”

Cricket legend Brian Close presented the wheelchair to Craig at Doncaster Golf Club.
