THORNE councillors joined the neighbourhood police officers to experience a Friday night on the beat.
Eddie Dobbs and Rachel Hodson, both Labour councillors went along to see first hand the work safer neighbourhood officers perform in a bid to keep the streets of Thorne safe.
Coun Hodson said: “I spent 12 hours on patrol from 3pm to 3am and got to see the variety of problems the team have to deal with on a daily basis.
“It spans from doing spot checks to confiscate alcohol from underage drinkers, to dealing with emergency 999 calls.”
Sgt Stuart Rowse, added: “It was great to have Eddie and Rachel on board for the evening so they could see how we follow up reports of anti-social behaviour from them and members of the public.
“I want to reassure the public that we are dedicated to making their area a safer place to live.”
