Doncaster Council’s planning team is starting a public consultation on how the public are engaged in planning decisions.
Views are being sought on two documents. The first, the Statement of Community Involvement, outlines how the planning team will involve the public in future business, including planning applications and Local Plan documents.
Secondly, the Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) will give further guidance on how existing planning policies will be put into action. The aim of the SPD is to condense the current range of guidance documents that are used in planning into a simpler, user-friendly guide that will help to make the process easier and take account of updated government guidance.
Scott Cardwell, Assistant Director of Development, said: “We want to get people’s views on these important documents, as they set out how we will involve the public in the future planning process. It is important we get a good idea of what works and what can be improved, in order to make these guidelines as useful as possible and to ensure Doncaster benefits from good quality development.”
The public consultation will run until 15th May 2015, and started on 17th April. Interested residents are asked to view the draft documents at http://www.doncaster.gov.uk/ldf and leave their comments
