A council spokesman said today: “We are looking forward to making a splash at Graves Park this summer with the arrival of a giant waterslide.

“At the moment, we’re currently in the process of confirming final arrangements, and a date, with the organisers – so watch this space for further details.”

Organisers say: “Slide the City is a family friendly slip-and-slide water party event.

“There will be live music, food, drinks, water, and of course the biggest slip-and-slide that you’ve ever seen.

“Don’t worry, we’ve got it padded. This slide’s got more cushion than your grandpa’s orthopedic shoes.
