CARING Cordie Freeman got her first official engagements underway in her new role as junior civic mayor.

For the terrific ten-year-old helped civic mayor Eva Hughes to welcome new British citizens and their families to Doncaster as part of citizenship ceremonies at the Mansion House.

The Mexborough Montagu Junior School youngster also scored VIP guest tickets at a charity football match at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Cordie, of Windsor Drive in Mexborough, watched on as Doncaster Council lined-up against South Yorkshire Police to raise money for the Civic Charity Fund which supports voluntary youth organisations and the Aurora Centre.

Cordie said: “I’ve been really looking forward to going to my first events as junior civic mayor. I’m really excited to see what is involved in the job of civic mayor.”
