Competitors to muck in to raise money for charities

TWO ploughing matches are taking place this weekend to raise money for charity.

Thorne and District Agricultural Society is organising the games which are expected to attract 100 competitors for both matches.

On Saturday the South Yorkshire Ploughing Match is being held on land off Hatfield Lane in Barnby Dun. The following day the Thorne and Hatfield Match will take place in Bawtry Road, Lindholme, near to HMP Lindholme.

Both will feature various classes of vintage, classic and modern ploughing.

A raffle will also take place on each day which start at 9.30am. Entrance is £3. Proceeds will go to the society’s nominated charities.
