A GENEROUS community effort has seen over £1,000 raised in aid of a young boy who has epilepsy.

Nathan Dowling, ten, of Balcarres Road, Rossington, has to have medication to prevent fits which he has experienced up to 50 times a day.

Mum Dawn and Pheasant Bank Junior School pupil Nathan, helped to organise a community fundraiser at Euphoria Hair Salon in Fowler Crescent, where hair styling, nail art, face-painting, a raffle and tombola was held.

Proceeds from the event will be going to national charity Epilepsy Sucks UK which has helped support 32-year-old Dawn and Nathan.

She said: “From the money we raised, it can help buy 23 specially-designed pillows which are crucial for people with epilepsy, Nathan uses one too.

“Nathan was really proud of the event, he really loved it, it was so good to see so many people supporting us.

“It was a huge community effort, every shop we went into in Rossington donated a raffle prize so we were delighted with that.

“Ladbrokes in the village also held a special sweepstake to raise £50.50 which was fantastic.”
