Come forward and offer support for new centres

BUSINESSES and young people have been urged to get involved in the first youth clubs to be built in Doncaster for nearly 40 years.

For the old Tom Hill Youth Centre in Conisbrough and Bentley Park Lodge, demolished earlier this year, are being transformed into state-of-the-art facilities which aim to be unveiled next summer.

Contractors Wildgoose Construction is taking on the work, part of Doncaster Council’s £5 million MyPlace project supported by the Big Lottery Fund.

Firms are needed to offer advice or sponsorship and young people are being encouraged to come forward to say how the buildings should look inside.

Coun Eric Tatton-Kelly, cabinet member for children and young people, said: “It is such good news that these new centres are starting to take shape.

“These are the first new youth centres to be built since the early 1970s. I urge more young people and businesses to get involved and help make the new facilities a big success.”
