Residents dug deep to clear litter and debris from a canalside as part of a project to restore an old ferry slipway.
Members of the Mexborough Ferryboat Association gathered on the banks of the River Don near Ferryboat Lane to clear litter dig out dirt from the site.
The clean-up was part of the Ferryboat Slipway Project to restore the slipway which was used as a small dock by ferries which used to take passengers across the River Don to Old Denaby, Denaby and Conisbrough.
The crossings were in operation from the Roman times right up to the 1960s.
