A VOLUNTARY organisation providing support to Doncaster communities has celebrated its 25th anniversary.
The South Yorkshire Community Foundation raises money from businesses and philanthropists and uses the funds to help residents facing economic hardship.
Civic mayor Eva Hughes joined some of the borough’s business leaders at an event to mark the milestone.
Pauline Grice, chief executive of SYCF, said: “Great credit should be given to the generous people in our area that have supported our work since 1986.
“The funding and support we have provided has been instrumental for a lot of small developing groups that have grown considerably and achieved sustainability.
“Money is tighter in the current climate and we are still seeing a huge demand for grant funding.”
In the last five years SYCF has delivered £1.25 million in grant support to almost 300 Doncaster projects with 2,300 volunteers engaged in funded projects.
Grants to Doncaster groups have also benefitted 31,700 people in the last three years.
