Christmas started early at the annual Christmas Fair at St Mary’s Church Hall, West Butterwick.

A wide variety of stalls including bric-a-brac, a cake stall and a chocolate stall, as well as a tombola and raffle helped raise a total of £269 to go towards church funds. The Rev Ian Walker said: “Everyone enjoyed themselves as usual at our annual bazaar this year. It is a credit to everyone in the village that we raised so much despite having a relatively small congregation. The church is at the centre of life in the village.”

The church has undergone a huge refurbishment programme over the last 15 years, including replacing the stained glass windows. Rev Walker says the next improvement will be to upgrade the water boiler. West Butterwick Primary School will hold its end of term service at the church on December 20 at 2pm. There will be a Crib and Christmas service on Christmas Eve at 4pm.
