A FESTIVAL Evensong celebrating the 350th anniversary of the Book of Common Prayer sung by a choir containing representatives from churches across the Diocese of Sheffield, will be sung in Doncaster Minster this Saturday.

The Bishop of Doncaster, Peter Burrows, will preach at the 4pm service.

The choir will be conducted by Robert Webb, Education and Training Officer at the Royal School of Church Music in Sheffield and South Yorkshire.

The Bishop of Sheffield’s Adviser in Music and Worship, Rev Helen Bent, said today: “Everyone is welcome to join us in celebrating this important anniversary, as we give thanks for the prayer book which has nourished generations of faithful Anglican Christians and made a significant impact on the shaping of the English language.”

She added: “This is a must for all those who love and value the Book of Common Prayer.”

All are welcome to attend the service which costs £6 per person and includes the purchase of the Festival Service book.
