Youngsters from the Isle are joining in efforts to raise funds for a brave young mum fighting cancer and her family.
Big-hearted small people have jumped in - to run, cycle and dance for vital cash towards costly treatment for Epworth’s Anna Verrico, who has an aggressive breast cancer, and two tiny children of her own.
Melis Wright, ten, of Epworth, did a six-miles sponsored return-run from Epworth to Haxey, with her dad, Manalo Wright, and raised over £250. On December 1 eight-year old Georgia Hughes, and brother Ryan, seven, will cycle the old railway lines from Haxey to Epworth with friends Alissia and Logan Davison, aged 10 and eight and also of Epworth, for the Verrico Appeal.
David Hughes, 53, of Fieldside, Epworth, will accompany the children with Labrador Sadie. Sponsor forms are in One stop, Epworth and Lara’s Hair Mechanics, Fountain Court.
Collections and wrist band sales at the Scunthorpe United game last Saturday raised £1500, with Scunthorpe’s chairman promising to match that amount, and sponsored runners at a 10k race at Market Rasen made another £4,500.
Anna managed an appearance at Scunthorpe to thank supporters on Saturday.
