Colin Gaffney, of Brecon, Belton, completed the walk at Sheffield’s Don Valley Stadium earlier this month and the funds will go towards the city’s Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity.
The 45-year-old was diagnosed with cancer at the base of his tongue in June - just weeks after he and four friends had successfully tackled the national three peaks challenge.
The quintet - all regulars at Belton’s Crown Inn - raised over £2,500 for various worthy causes, including MacMillan Nurses and the RNLI, when they conquered Ben Nevis in Scotland, Snowdon in Wales and England’s tallest mountain, Scafell Pike.
Colin has been undergoing treatment at Weston Park and he said he wanted “to give something back” for the support he has received from both the hospital and pub regulars.
He said: “The Crown is a real community spirited pub and John and Lynn are always happy to help whenever they can.
“When you are going through a challenge like this there is nothing like the feeling that friends are really pulling for you and that has certainly been the case for me.”
Donations are still welcome. Contact Colin on 01427 872537.
