The number of people involved in the M62 crash continues to increase.
A spokesman for Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust said due to the scale of the incident Yorkshire Ambulance Service enacted its Major Incident Plan and dispatched a significant number of resources to the scene including ambulances, the Hazardous Area Response Team, doctors and air ambulances.
The spokesman added: “Ambulance clinicians provided treatment to patients at the scene and have worked closely with emergency service colleagues. Yorkshire Ambulance Service staff at the scene have now been able to confirm that 17 casualties were treated and transported to hospital.”
There are now reports that the crash involved a mini bus travelling on a hen party from South Elmsall. One woman has died.
