A Rotherham foodbank that helps residents facing financial hardship is due to receive an early Christmas present - in the form of a £1000 cheque.

Representatives of the National Grid Affordable Warmth Solutions, set up by the National Grid to help tackle fuel poverty, and John Healey MP are due to present a cheque to volunteers at the Wath Community Foodbank on Friday, November 27.

Jeremy Nesbitt, managing director of the National Grid Affordable Warmth Solutions, said: “We are delighted to be able to support the fantastic work of the foodbank in helping those most in need at this difficult time of year.”

Volunteer reverend Sue Hobley added the donation will help to “sustain and develop” the service.
