Youngsters at a Doncaster school have handed a boost to former soldiers who have ended up living on the streets.

Pupils at Ridgewood School brought in donations of non-perishable food and personal hygiene products to hand over to the South Yorkshire branch of the charity Soldiers off the Street UK, which supports homeless ex-troops.

Ridgewood School pupils Daniel Betts, 15, Jamie Canning, 15, Georgia Curry, 15, and Ailish Elliott, 15, are pictured next to the items donated by the school, which were brought in for collection yesterday morning.

The charity tries to help homeless ex-service personnel from all the armed forces, in particular through support, advice and practical help.
