Three dads treated for cancer at Weston Park Hospital are showing their gratitude to the staff by organising a special fundraising evening on Thursday January 9.
Swinton after-dinner speaker and comedian Zak Stevens heads a four-act bill at Mexborough Main Street Club at 7.30pm.
Zak, Bill Weir and Trevor Crompton of Balby, met each other during their treatment at the sheffield hospital, which provides cancer treatment services for patients across the region, during the summer.
Bill, 67, who says he is on the mend after treatment for prostate cancer, said: “All three of us want to say thank you to the staff at Weston Park for all their dedication and hard work.we hope our contribution will boost their coffers.
“I had treatment there for seven and a half weeks and they were absolutely brilliant.”
The three men formed a bond which helped them face their treatment schedules and supported each other through the experience.
Bill said: “We all got on very well and we were always laughing and joking together despite what we were in for.
“Zak is one of those blokes who can crack you up with just a one liner.”
Other acts on the bill include singer comedian Kriz, vcalist Sharna and Fever Pitch singer Sharon West.
As well as the entertainment there will be a raffle and bingo.
