Thousands in the bank and the money's still puring in!

OUR magnificent Midnight Walk may be over - but fundraisers across the borough are proving they have the staying power to see Scan For Life through to the finish line.

More than 300 volunteers completed the Lakeside route last month during the highlight of our latest charity appeal, in association with Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust.

And we have already collected thousands of pounds from the novelty event organised in conjunction with Doncaster Council and the Keepmoat Stadium.

But clubs, schools and businesses throughout the town are continuing to do their bit to raise 600,000 for a new super scanner for Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

Pupils and teachers at Hill House School in Auckley raised a whopping 1,200 after recently holding a non-uniform day.

The Little Angels Parent and Toddler Group, based at Wheatley Park Baptist Church, added a further 254 thanks to a coffee and cake morning.

While a cabaret and carvery evening at the Earl of Doncaster last week, featuring the vocal talents of local singer Miss Moby Richards, will also add to our current cash pot - which stands at more than 100,000.

The Free Press launched Scan For Life in July this year to raise money for a new state-of-the-art scanner for DRI which will revolutionise the detection and treatment of cancer in Doncaster.

Contact campaign reporter Paul Goodwin on (01302) 347260 if you are organising a Scan For Life fundraising event.

* Donations to Scan For Life can be made by visiting the Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust at St John's Hospice Shop, 4 East Laith Gate in the town centre, with cheques made payable to 'Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust'.

Funds may also be paid directly into the campaign account: Co-operative Bank, account number 50326679. For more information about the DCDT contact them directly on (01302) 349177.
