Following the success of the first two Crucible Writers’ Nights, Sheffield Theatres is calling for submissions of original short plays from local writers to be performed in the Studio Theatre on Monday November 12.
Open to writers based in South Yorkshire or within 30 miles of the Crucible, of all experience levels, the theme for the third Crucible Writers’ Night is ‘We’re All in This Together’. The plays must be around ten minutes in length, or work as a standalone excerpt from a longer piece, and be performed with a maximum of three actors and minimal technical requirements.
Every submission will be read by Sheffield Theatres’ artistic team, who are looking for bold and exciting plays which tell an interesting story. A group of plays will then be selected to be performed by professional actors and directors.
To submit a play for entry and have the chance of your work being performed on a professional stage, writers are asked to email their work and include a short covering letter detailing writing experience and contact details to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Deadline for submissions is Monday 10 September at 6pm.
The selected short plays will be performed at the Studio Theatre on Monday November 12 at 7.45pm. Tickets can be purchased from Sheffield Theatres’ Box Office in-person, by phone on 0114 249 6000 or online at Sheffield Theates and are priced £5.
